I can understand where you are coming from here. I am close to someone who didn't serve in prison but has been to jail and it is something that people look down upon immediately. I am sorry that people are harsh and don't take the time to try to understand or be kind.

Well he is very handsome... I'm sorry for any hardship that yall have had to endure.. I have a close friend who has been in prison, and it sucks that people are so quick to judge!I wish yall the best!

That is absolutely beautiful. So so true to never judge a book by the cover. I believe that bad things happen to good people. I am sorry for any pain you may have or still feel. Big hugs lady. Nonetheless very powerful and beautiful!

Screw judgmental people. Dealing with autism, I have to endure this all of the time. Hugs...

Having a Chronic Illness at a young age isn't a lot of fun either. I have a trach, but other than that, when I go out, I look pretty decent. I park in handicapped, because I may be fine going in somewhere, but not able to walk out. I get all KINDS of nasty stares. I agree with Crystal. Scr#$ 'em.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Amen!
(my good friends have a son my age who went to prison in between drug/alcohol rehabs. I happened to date that son for quite awhile AFTER all that. definitely opened my eyes to society's perceptions!)

It's so wrong to judge...It's like judging a book by it's cover...we have to get to know :)

I totally agree with you. My brother made some mistakes when he was younger and has a felony on his record. Now that he is trying to move on with his life he is learning the hard way how that is going to affect him. He was rejected from a college program he REALLY wanted to go in to. I feel TERRIBLE for what he is going through with this blemish on his record. Everyone makes mistakes, some get caught and pay a high consequence. I pray your son will make it through this difficult time and see the positive things to come in the future. This too shall pass.

You're son is an amazing man and he will rise above this hardship. I can't begin to understand what either of you have been through and are going through. i wish him the best of luck. take care and thanks for sharing.

Oh Olga...big hugs girl. That made me tear up. I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but you definitely change the way you feel about people that have made mistakes, when it's someone that you hold so close to your heart. They all are someones child, sibling, parent or friend. And I don't think anyone understands that when your loved one gets a sentence...so do we.

We never really know anyone's story and shouldn't judge.

I am sure it's a tough transition for him and he faces a lot of judgment and closed doors. Wishing the best for him!

I know exactly what you mean. As a matter of fact I posted my status on FB the other day similar to this. I have had family members and friends that have been in jail and everybody deserves a second chance. I had a lady ask me about somebody and then she proceeded to judge him and it just made me mad. I thought that was a long time ago when he got into some trouble.

Your son must love you posting this LOL

If he has to state it, he should have the right to explain it. Otherwise how else would people know? Its not like he wears his booking number on his sleeve.

I'm sorry to hear that people would be judgmental; I guess we all have our issues. I hope that your son is able to move forward in a positive direction and use his experience to grow.

This is such a beautiful and eye-opening post, Olga. Wishing your handsome son (and you!) peace...and non-judgmental people in your lives. Count me amongst them.

A friend of mine and I were having a conversation about judging people based on that type of thing. Her brother was recently released. It's a very touchy situation and, you're right, people should not be so judgemental.

So true and you made the point beautifully. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

We all make mistakes and surely we should think before we cast a stone.
